Dhananjaya Walallawita—known to most as ‘Dhana’ or ‘Jay’ — is a British Asian writer whose storytelling is as layered and textured as his own journey. Born and raised in Sri Lanka, now living in the English countryside with his family, Jay draws deep inspiration from his roots. His writing is richly informed by a life lived between cultures, shaped by the island rhythms of his childhood and the quiet rustle of woodland creatures echoing through the night outside his window today.

That storytelling has now found its most ambitious form yet in Kuvini, his debut feature film — an animated musical reimagining a Sri Lankan legend from the perspective of its true, forgotten hero. Working at the intersection of his day-to-day expertise in AI and technology and his lifelong instinct for narrative, Jay is building Kuvini as an AI-native production from the ground up, using emerging tools to bring a story rooted in old-world myth to life in an entirely new way.
